she stands very still, at the shore, gazing
and sees an endless world
she steps ahead
but joy running through her veins
she doesn’t think
foolish as it may seem, she follows her dreams
and someone might wonder what drives her
and sometimes, she wonders herself
and sometimes, what’s driving her is just the search for her drive
and sometimes, a light heart and a shared ice-cream
and a cup of tea at sunset
sometimes that’s all it needs to lift those corners
a laugh to fill the air with sparkles
two intertwined hands running through the sand
and then she leaps without looking
smiling, into breaking waves
a reflection on her face of forgotten melodies
a tune that flickers through the water
and a color of the deepest green and blue
what a lovely night, just me and you

Wow Christina, I absolutely love this! I was totally pulled by your words, from one line to the next, just like the water. I discovered your blog because of the IOC post you left a comment on and I’m so glad & so pleased to e-meet a fellow travel + poetry lover. I’m really liking how you write about travel and am excited to see more.
